Efficient Microwave Processing of Thin Films Based on Double-Ridged Waveguide

Microwave heating has a wide range of applications in the fields industrial and drying. However, when microwave is applied to thin film, it will be challenging due its low loss large heat dissipation area. In this paper, double-ridged waveguide for thin-film proposed. The double ridge structure employed enhance electric field, thereby increasing power-loss density film. Firstly, waveguide, which field strength can about 2.5 times that conventional was designed based on transverse resonance method electromagnetic simulation. Then, multiphysics model built analyze performance ridged transfer are coupled. simulation results show proposed 35.0 waveguide. An experiment carried out verify model, showing experimental accordance with results. Finally, influences thickness permittivity, distance between two ridges, working state uniformity were also discussed.
